Last year my son almost broke his leg when one of those cheap benches they had outside the rink collapsed and they did nothing! They just left the bench there after we told them what happened for other kids to use. It's unsafe, the ice isn't well maintained at all, and it's overpriced.

Nice idea but destroys the heart of the town, large white elephant, operates at a loss and the council picks up the tab. What about putting a smaller rink on the green area opposite Owen Gray Jewellers ..

Perfect opportunity to utilise the market square at Christmas for local traders, crasftspeople and entertainment, which would be more beneficial for local businesses and tourists rather than a big tent blocking the square for two months of the year.

I dread seeing the Ice Rink being erected in our lovely Market Square each year. It's a dreadful eyesore and robs the people of Dundalk of our civic space for 8 to 10 weeks of the year.

I do not think the town center should be used as a location for the ice rink. There are other locations better suited for it like up beside retail park or beside Tescos where circuses are held. The maket square is best suited for a market esp at Christmas

We spend millions on the New Square, and instead of showing it off to locals & visitors alike, THEY COVER THE WHOLE PLACE WITH A "TENT". Well done to whoever thought of this absolutely ridiculous idea. Merry Christmas !!!!

The idea of an ice rink to pull people into town makes sense. However, it's in the wrong place. The previous open-air rink left plenty of space for stalls and kept the beautiful lighted fountain working. Either go back to a smaller rink or relocate the rink elsewhere - Boyd's carpark would still bring people into town.
