Your Hilliard neighbors in Hyde Park and West Briar need your support to prevent a funeral home from going right in their back yard and impacting their daily quality of life. Make your voice heard and tell the City of Hilliard that a commercial business does not belong in the center of a neighborhood. All neighbors want to see the church at 5505 Hyde Park maintained and used in a way that benefits the community, but a funeral home and commercial business is highly out of place in the middle of a planned neighborhood.
Neighbors are concerned about:
- the impact on property value and desirability of all our homes
- the traffic it will cause and safety for our students and buses
- limiting cultural and religious diversity as some neighbors would be unable to live (or enjoy the city park) in such close proximity to a funeral home due to their faith
- the message that anywhere in Hilliard, even the center of a neighborhood, is open for commercial operation regardless of the impact to neighbors.
This petition will be used to support West Briar and Hyde Park neighbors as they continue to inform the City of Hilliard of their objections to this property use and zoning change. Any questions can be directed to [email protected], Jeff Johnson, HOA president.

The City of Hilliard needs to stop pretending that this commercial invasion is at all acceptable for our neighborhood. We have hit a surge of support that proves how many residents are ready to fight back against this blatant disregard for our community standards.

Totally ridiculous. Hope they find a better spot for this because it definitely isnt here.
This would completely ruin the character of our quiet street. Hilliard needs to look out for the people who live here not the developers.
So wrong to put a business in the middle of our homes. Keep the commercial stuff on the main road and leave our neighborhood alone.
Property values are going to tank. Who wants their backyard facing that? city needs to listen to us.
traffic is already bad enough during school hours without hearse processions blocking the streets. bad idea!!!

Living right next to a funeral home is not what I signed up for when we bought our house. This is a residential area plain and simple.
