Easley Combined Utilities plans a septic line extension of the Georges Creek system along Hamilton Creek in Pickens County. This will require the taking of land and right of way from existing property owners, along with the destruction of many trees, some 100+ years old. We believe that existing property owners shouldn't be punished to produce higher profits for local land developers. Sign this petition to show your opposition to this unnecessary destruction of nature and long time Pickens County residents' property value.

i honestly cant believe how this has picked up speed lately. seeing so many people stand up for our trees and property rights is really moving. we have actual momentum now and it feels like people are finally paying attention to what is happening here.

To many quality of life is more important than the profits of developers. Many people live in this area because of over-development in Greenville and elsewhere. Don't make the same mistakes here. Stop this project.

Environmentally how could this be approved - to run a sewer line only feet away from a creek?! The risk of contaminating the creek and the lake it runs to, everything down stream seems like a disaster in the making.

I strongly oppose the proposed sewer line. I moved to this location for privacy and woods. You are basically opening up our backyards to anyone who follows the sewer line as well as providing a pathway for those outside our development to come in and steal. Security cameras are not cheap. Find another route that does not affect people's homes.

I oppose the proposed sewer line on the basis that it is a permanent change to our properties so ECU can temporarily defer the cost of expanding/upgrading their infrastructure. This project proposes spending $7 million to avoid spending $10 million to fix a capacity problem they've known about for at least 4 years. In my view, the utility should issue bonds and raise the money without destroying our neighborhood.

As a resident of Heathwood and a realtor I am opposed to the septic line extension for a number of reasons, i.e. destruction of nature and beauty, reduction in home values, potential smell, etc....

It begins in my backyard property. We are opposed to this . We were never asked. We were informed.

This is unethical bullcrap. Put it somewhere else.

The environmental risk of this sewer line and the property value loss, not to mention the outright stripping of land from owners, reveal this plan to be exceedingly irresponsible. Better solutions exist.
