Lawmakers and special interests in Montpelier want to raise the cost of heating and driving.
What they don’t understand is that the fuel that keeps our homes warm and gets us to work is essential to our economy.

A hundred signatures just popped up on my phone and I honestly cannot believe it because (honestly) I thought this might just stay under the radar. People are really waking up to how crazy these fuel prices are getting and it feels like we finally have some real traction now.

I see the counter inching toward triple digits and it honestly makes me want to scream because these people in the capital think a dollar a gallon is just pocket change for us. If we hit the hundred mark before the end of the day it might actually be enough to grab someone's attention in the state house who is currently ignoring the cold reality of our heating bills.

This tax makes sense to the "Trust Funders" in our Legislature that can afford electric cars, solar systems and wind systems but for the average Vermonter working hard for a living it creates a choice between feeding your children and staying warm.
In a state with virtually no effective public transportation, large distances between services and extremely cold winters- any fuel tax is evil. To reduce emissions- increase efficiency by providing direct $ for $ tax reductions!
How is this even being considered? Has any of you spent any time in the small towns of Vermont? There is no way people can "walk" to and from places. This is a very good way to deplete the population on Vermont. Please do not consider signing this bill into law.
I strongly oppose this tax. This is a very rural state with little public transportation. Both my husband and I have to drive to our jobs. Heating homes with fuel is a must for many Vermonters. We can not continue to pay more in taxes.
This proposed tax will dramatically lower the standard of living for nearly every hard working Vermont family, and negatively impact thousands of small businesses throughout the state, and the very livelihood of their employees. It should be vehemently opposed.
Every VT state tax that has been put into place only empty the common persons wallet and fattens another special interest groups pocket. This is not happening on my watch.

I drive 50 miles a day to get to and from work. I need gas for my livelihood. Gas it is a big enough expense already. Enough with the taxes. It is way overdue that our Vermont State Representatives start cutting down on their out of control costs.
