WE PRESENT OUR CASE AND THIS PETITION ON TUESDAY JUNE 12th PLEASE SHARE THIS PETITION!
To quote our developer "New Longview is more than just another neighborhood,
it's a lifestyle." This belief has helped New Longview become Kansas
City's fastest growing Traditional Neighborhood Design community. The
Hearthview apartment project changes our neighborhood's development plan in a
way that offers more negative impact than positive. While the addition of
high-density apartments is a component of future phases for our mixed-use
community, the scope and location of this project does not support the original
development plan that was presented to residents of New Longview when we
purchased our homes.
This project is a short-sided solution to pursue the restoration of the dairy
barns with an underlying disregard to the long-term well being of the
passionate residents of New Longview. New Longview residents have
dedicated countless hours to ensure our community is a positive, safe and
progressive neighborhood for residents and visitors alike and this project goes
against a number of those values we, as residents, maintain on behalf of New
Longview for nearly 8 years.
While we do not expect to have direct control of the future development phases
of New Longview, we do expect to be involved in a capacity that allows us to
preserve the best interests of our investment in this community.
As with any growing community, the uncertainty surrounding new developments can cause concern amongst current residents. NLV Cares supports the ongoing
development of the New Longview Community; we want all residents to be informed and all consequences of the development (i.e. property values, traffic
concerns, effects on school enrollment and potential increases in crime) to be
considered before action is taken. We love our neighborhood and the want to see it strengthened by future development consistent with the master plan and
vision we all committed to when we built our homes.
We strongly oppose the location of the high-density Hearthview apartment
development and the proposed changes to the New Longview master plan.

The feedback from our neighborhood discussions has been overwhelming. I am currently organizing these concerns to present directly to the planning committee.

We bought our house here specifically because of the master plan. This bait and switch is just wrong.

The traffic is already bad enough during school hours. adding this many people in that spot is a recipe for disaster.

High density does not belong in this part of the neighborhood. Fix the barns but dont destroy the rest of the area to do it.

So frustrated. We moved here for the community vibe not to be packed in like sardines. Stop this project.
