Hello there! My name is Nicholas Carroll and I am hoping to become your 1L Vice President for the 2021-2022 academic year. As Vice President, my number one priority is to bring to light voices that are simply ignored and seldom to representation.

If you haven't noticed, we're living in the future! No flying cars (yet) but we definitely have a lot of opportunities to uplift and bolster the lives of those around us. We can affirm our queer friends, fight for and uplift Black and Brown voices, and ensure accessibility for every single individual. If I were to be elected Vice President, I would preserve a community of diversity and accessibility. Your voices are the ones that matter, and what a privilege it would be to listen, support, and create a safe space for such an intelligent and passionate community that we have here.

Before Detroit Mercy Law, I attended DePaul University's College of Law in pursuit of a Master of Jurisprudence with a concentration in Public Interest Law. My course load centered around Constitutional Law and Critical Race Theory where I studied under some wonderful professors who encouraged me to pursue a Juris Doctor. Fast forward a year and now I'm here, ready to put in the work and exist in a positive, supportive environment. Additionally, I worked at Apple Inc. where I put a lot of my energy into establishing a safe space in the workplace; something that can be difficult to find for people like me in the Midwest. I served on multiple panels focusing on LGBTQIA+ issues, attended various panels as an ally for my Black, Asian, and Female identifying coworkers, and facilitated meetings around inclusion and diversity.

I myself am a queer, gender fluid, Latinx individual who is the first in their family to attend an undergraduate university and the first to pursue a legal degree. I understand what life is like and I very much would like to walk through this next chapter of ours with each and every one of you! Let's take on this new adventure and do some stellar work!
