We, as residents of the Boroughs of Ho-Ho-Kus, Saddle River and Upper Saddle River, formally petition and request the Allendale Governing Body to enact an ordinance to permit lighting for athletic and program events at Northern Highlands Regional High School for all days of the week not to exceed 10:00 PM and to permit said lighting to extend to a height of 72 feet.

Northern Highlands is among the best High Schools in the State and as such we must continue to give the students every opportunity to excel. The residents who oppose these lights also benefit from the high quality community they live in, in part because of the quality of the schools within that community. Every other High School in communities similar to ours have permanent lighting on their fields. It is not unreasonable to expect a High School to have such lighting for sporting events.

It's very difficult to march on the field and read music during evening practice sessions without proper lighting! The students work hard enough, without having to strain their eyes.
