Full Time Paramedics with Lambton County Emergency Medical Services have be advised that on Monday December 11th, 2 Paramedics from each station will be replaced and made to spend the shift at one of the County's Long Term Care Facilites. We have the understanding that this time is to be spent Job Shadowing RN's and RPN's to find out what they do in their facility.
We, the Paramedics of Lambton County are opposed to being replaced and forced to spend the shift at a Long Term Care Facility. We also feel that the time and money involved would be better spent in a training course that benefitted our patients.
Keep them in the ambulances!! Paramedics have specialized skills that don't need to be wasted on job shadowing. Put this budget toward real medical training instead.

This is ridiculous. Our paramedics need to be on the road saving lives not shadowing nurses. Who is going to answer the 911 calls if they are sitting in a nursing home? Total waste of resources.
