We the undersigned are residents of New Castle who petition to maintain the healthy, safe, and bucolic environment in which we reside. We would like to prevent, among other things, the attraction of pests and wildlife, emanation of odors, and build-up of unhealthy, unsightly and unsafe garbage cans in the roads and in our homes. We are disappointed in the decision to cut one of our fundamental infrastructural services. The savings to each household is negligible as compared to the loss of service. At the same time, the fiscal irresponsibility of the town government in choosing to raze and rebuild a gazebo at exorbitant cost is quite distressing. The majority of our residents have no access to sewers and therefore no garbage disposal systems. We have no means of disposing of our own trash at an appropriate facility. We are not wasteful, and not irresponsible. We are dissatisfied with the decision and the flawed reasoning behind it.
