Newcastle City Council please ban plastic straws, plastic bags, balloons & single use bottles!
If Brisbane City Council can do it, so can Newcastle! Let’s stop the unnecessary use of single use plastics in our beautiful city.
Newcastle City Council, please ban the use of: plastic straws, plastic bags, disposable coffee cups and lids, helium balloons and plastic bottles from all Council operations. Also, please ensure that all Council sponsored events are free* of these single use plastics. *Obviously individuals who genuinely require such things as a straw to drink should still be able to use them*
Newcastle City Council, please work at banning the distribution of plastic bags in supermarkets. Plastic bags blow into the ocean and suffocate helpless marine life. Bags are often mistaken for jellyfish, and get injested by already endangered animals.
Newcastle City Council, be a leader and inspire change in businesses and individuals. This can happen & has to happen. Plastic pollutes the coastlines and oceans, killing and injuring precious wildlife. We all need to work together to stop this plastic crisis and help the environment.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” - Margaret Mead
