Maternity Facility for Newbury
We the undersigned petition the Primary Care Trust in West Berkshire to provide a local maternity facility in the town of Newbury. The population in West Berkshire is set to increase by 20%, yet there is still no plan to provide a maternity facility in the town. The Government guarantees in its Maternity Matters policy that women should have access to a local midwifery facility, so we ask you to fulfill this pledge and give women access to a local birth centre here in Newbury. Women should not be faced with a stressful journey to Reading, Oxford or Basingstoke; a journey that is made worse in peak travel times or in poor weather conditions.
Elaine Davies and Nina Flynn have given their full support to this campaign as mothers who have had bad birth experiences.
This online petition was started by myself, David Black, as UKIP Parliamentary Candidate for West Berkshire in the General Election. I am the father of 4 grown-up daughters and 21 grandchildren. I have seen first hand the stresses involved with child birth and I am passionate about bringing a maternity facility to Newbury. I will contine to campaign for this facility and I will use this petition to lobby the Primary Care Trust on your behalf.
NOTE: When you have signed the petition, you will be asked for a donation. Please ignore this as it is nothing to do with our campaign and will go to the hosting site. Just click the back button on your web browser.
