The new Doctor has been cast. The Thirteenth Doctor has been cast as Jodie Whittaker, which is basically a giant dump on a lot of Doctor Who fans.

I'm not trying to be sexist here, but you cannot just take a 54 year old show and change the main character to a female while keeping the same main character. This is annoying for so many reasons, because no-one wanted her as the Doctor. On the day she was announced, she was at the top by newspapers to take over from Capaldi. But the papers knew. And the papers did it for popularity.

This is basically having a male Wonder Woman, just no thanks. I'd rather have Sylvester McCoy come back than have a female Doctor. You can't be a man for all your long Time Lord life and then have your genetics re-wrote to become a female.

If this gets enough signatures, the BBC will see that Whovians do not like this change. Only us, the people who love this show and want a Doctor who doesn't change too much, can stop this from ruining this show. I tell you, the show will get cancelled soon.

I have been reading through the comments all morning and honestly the frustration is just pouring out everywhere which makes me feel like I am not losing my mind here. The BBC keeps acting like this is some brilliant move but they completely ignored the history of the character and what the fans actually wanted out of this incarnation. I am currently drafting a letter to the network heads because silence is basically admitting they have no real defense for ruining the legacy of the show.

I just logged on and saw the total has really taken off and honestly it feels like people are finally realizing the show is headed in the wrong direction. I spent all morning reading through what everyone is saying and it is wild to see how many of you feel exactly the same way about the legacy being ignored.

I love strong females Lexa in the hundred all the great females in the new star wars but this is politically correct stupidity and takes away a positive non aggressive role model for boys

I want the best actor for the job. Someone who can fill the role perfectly not someone chosen because of outside opinion.

I am sorry. I have tried to like her but I don't. The actress who played River Song would have been brilliant. And I don't like the sidekicks either - absolutely no character!!! I am trying desperately not to just switch off.

Absolutely hate it, ruined the show for us. I feel it's another "Look how tolerant and non gender discriminatory we are as a people" type thing. Doctor Who has always been male, this change is ridiculous. Instead of gimmick, perhaps better writing would have been a "novel" idea...

Females in my opinion act much differently to males, not to mention their pitch and tone of voice, which makes me feel as though she is not the real doctor.

If the Dr had always been played by a woman and they now cast a man I would be fighting to keep it a woman, hope that makes sense,I am beyond gutted,it was such a special programme.

The change from male to female doctor isn’t what bothers me, it’s the complete disrespect of being this woke crap and blatantly waving it in our faces episode after episode and trying to be like in schools teaching us it’s the way life is now GTFOH NONE of the past doctors ever acted that way and Jodie just keeps doing it over and over again. There is no respect in this show now and it feels definitely like the show has been created for 9 year olds and not the slightly more mature audience it once held dearly by their seats. It’s now become a child’s show (13 years old and under). The complete feel has gone and it’s like it’s a brand new doctor who show designed for kids. Such a massive disrespect to the past series and to the actual doctor itself.

It’s not so much that she’s female, it’s Her and the political wokeness writing, forced indoctrination in the new show With her
