Nehemiah Martinez was determined ineligible by the UIL because they believe his move was athletically motivated. Martinez’s Dad lives in Lubbock Cooper District and his step brothers attend LCISD schools. Nehemiah stated that New Deal representatives flipped his story and made ineligible statements against Nehemiah. This petition is against the UIL ruling, and it’s sole purpose is to give back an oppurtunity to a devoted, talented young man who has been falsely accused of moving for athletic reasons.
We just passed 500 signatures and I am honestly overwhelmed by your support for Nehemiah. This shows that people recognize the truth behind his situation and refuse to let the UIL ruin his season based on these lies. Thank you for helping me fight for a young man who deserves a fair chance to play.

Seeing this level of support for Nehemiah proves that people recognize how unfair this ruling truly is. The momentum we have built makes me believe that justice is finally within our reach for a student who deserves to be on the field.

If this child has family (Dad) in the school district, I don’t care what the reason, athletic or not, he should be able to attend the school that his family supports with school taxes. Period.

Thank you for the support we are working to file claim against New Deal for several issues. We know personally basketball players were recruited. The school should be ashamed. Nehemiah will stand out regardless of where he is. God has a plan much greater than the evil.

UIL is always cheating students out of their rights to change school districts. I don't believe it's fair at all. Let this young man do what he loves. Swallow your pride and do what's right.

Just because a child is talented, does not mean take him out of the sport he loves. If he’s good enough to make varsity, let him play varsity. It’s about talent not politics.
