To: Mayor Hardwick, Board of Trustees, Chamber of Commerce, and Nautical Mile Festival Organizers, When the Nautical Mile Festival started, the organizers’ primary objective was to create a festival that would attract businesses and tourists to the Nautical Mile and, more importantly, share our love, passion, and taste for fine seafood cuisine and our catches of the day. Due to recent challenges regarding the continuance of the Nautical Mile Festival, we, the undersigned, have grown concerned over the nature of this issue and would like our voices heard related to the following provisions: · A Nautical Mile Business Association, a non-profit organization, will be responsible for the coordination and organization of the Festival and those vendors that will participate. · Cooperation between Nautical Mile Business Association and Village Hall will look towards using volunteers as a resource first to lower costs, security, and surrounding community to address grievances regarding parking and etc. We, the undersigned, are submitting this petition as a “vote of confidence” that Freeport ’s Nautical Mile Festival should continue in the future and solely be based upon the interests of the “Nautical Mile Business Association” and our community”.
