We the undersigned are in support of the letter submitted to the Owen County Commissioners by Scott A Winders.

We believe that all Festivals and Events held are important to our community and local economy. We are further in strong agreement that all downtown Spencer Festivals and Events are important and should continue. We also agree that this current action could achieve an overall positive community outcome by attracting future events to the downtown area.

We are in support of the formal formation of a Committee to advise and support the Commissioners in developing appropriate modifications to the existing ordinances that promote the utilization of Spencer’s downtown for all Festivals and Special Events. We also support the other provisions as to appropriate timelines set forth in Mr. Winders letter.

Seeing the momentum build for our downtown streets brings me a lot of hope for our common future. I need you to pass this link to a neighbor right now so we can hit five hundred names before the Commissioners meet.

Seeing this level of support for our downtown festivals feels truly surreal. My family has spent countless weekends on those streets and knowing so many neighbors feel the same way gives me real hope for our future.

Our courthouse and courthouse lawn represent the governance of our county. When citizens gather there we put our personal, political, and religious values aside to capture moments of harmony focusing on things we have in common. At these moments we are united and the US can use more of that!

I specifically visit Spencer to enjoy the various festivals, for example Spencer Pride, that the county has around the courthouse. The courthouse is a wonderful place to hold these festivals because the venue supports the American values of freedom, liberty, and equality.

My earliest memories of Spencer are of festivals and parades in the square. As an adult, and having been involved with both the Tivoli and Spencer Main Street I know how important these events are to the success of our downtown businesses and the overall charm of our community.

Events downtown are the only reason I visit Spencer. I spend money to get there, and while I am there. That’ $X into the community and economy. Does Spencer government want to take on the responsibility of damaging the town’s economy?

As a planner of downtown events I know the warm feeling festival guests get from attending downtown events. I have planned as many as 5 annual downtown events and it would be a shame to hide the beauty of downtown and detour the community fellowship downtown events bring by eliminating them.

Po box 463 Gosport This county NEEDS *ALL* of our festivals. I enjoy all the events at the courthouse square, apple butter doesn't seem the same at the fairgrounds. Hoping we keep the current events & add more.

I think reasonable guidelines can be found to accommodate parents' concerns without eliminating any of the existing festivals and events, perhaps family -friendly event hours and adults only hours.

The (specifically pride) festivals and general sense of community that come with them are a huge part of the reason my family chose to move here, and why we continue to love this town. Banning these events would be such a loss for the whole community.
