Petition for National Fire Ant Awareness Day Many people across the country are faced with fire ants and the dangers the pests create for families and pets. Since they were introduced to the United States in the 1930\'s, fire ants have spread and infested the majority of the southern states, plaguing the land and all its inhabitants. Fire ants have reached as far north as Delaware and as far west as California. Beyond stinging humans and animals, consequences arise due to crop losses, damage to farming machinery, and electrical equipment, too. The devastation is costing people billions of dollars to manage fire ants and fix the damage. In an effort to establish a system of communication and awareness about this agitation, we are creating a National Fire Ant Awareness Day. We are uniting together against the common threat of fire ants, making a stand, and seeking recognition that this issue needs to come to the attention of the country as a whole, as it has the possibility to infest the entire nation. Through educational events planned in 2007 and signatures attained from this petition we are working to show support for our legislators to recognize fire ant awareness nationally through the implementation of National Fire Ant Awareness Day. Please show your support in education and eradication of the red imported fire ant by participating in this petition to create a National Fire Ant Awareness Day. The bureaucrats in Washington are ignoring the billions of dollars in damage caused by these pests while our families and farmers suffer. I am tired of playing nice with politicians who refuse to acknowledge this infestation. We will keep pushing until they stop hiding and address the destruction these ants are causing across the country.

The momentum behind this demand is proof that the public is done letting these parasites tear apart our homes and farms. Our legislators have ignored this infestation for far too long but they cannot hide from us anymore.

4 months ago we lost our grand baby from fireants...not knowing she was allergic to them and the dangerous they could cause...I am now on a mission to spread awareness over the United states for allergy awareness to encourage families to have there children tested to prevent what happen to us happen to them...searching for help to spread the awareness...we are calling it Our Addi Bug Allergy Awareness...all we want is her little life and story to save another person from going through this and for her memory to live on...
