Support this petition if you strongly feel that the upcoming ladies hall for female students at BUET campus should be named as 'Khaleda Ekram Hall'. You may be aware that the newly designed hall came as a response to meet a dramatically growing need for accommodation of female students at BUET, indicating a shift in mind set of the society that has opened up for girls pursuing technical disciplines. Soon after becoming the Vice Chancellor of BUET, the first female Vice Chancellor at that, Prof. Khaleda Ekram took personal initiatives in improving upon the design, secure funding commitment from the agencies and pushing the design team to put out a contemporary design in record time, often going beyond her call of duty- participating in series of meetings, extended consultations and hours of presentations. Her commitment, energy and sincerity of purpose led to the advanced stage of the project. We are greatly saddened by her untimely death while in the office, in a time when the 'wind of change' just started to blow. We believe that by naming the hall and putting up a mural/ graphic of the image in the new hostel lobby would be a befitting gesture on our part in appreciating efforts and honouring the memory of this great academic, who put over 42 years of her life in the service of BUET rather quietly, who herself started her studies here as, in her own words 'the only girl in the class' and rightly paving the way for many girls in the class.
By signing this petition you will be supporting the naming of the hall by requesting our respective association or body to formally raise the issue with the BUET authority to take resolutions and necessary steps in naming the upcoming ladies hall as cited above.

Her path from being the only woman in her classroom to leading the university as Vice Chancellor serves as a powerful reminder of why naming this hall after her is the right way to honor her contributions.

BUET authoity should name the ladies hostel after late Khaleda m'am. he hostel remained nameless for too long. It is high time it should have a proper name. And it should be named after Prof. Ar. Khaleda Ekram, The Iron Lady.
I strongly support this initiative, as she took personal initiative to the procedure, not merely as an official duty.
This is very worthwhile. She died while she was serving as VC. And she was a very successful one.
I would suggest to consider naming it 'Professor Khaleda Ekram Hall". We already have a student hall named 'Dr. M. A. Rashid Hall', why not keep the designation this time too? Thanks!
I think its appropriate to name the hall after Late Prof.Khaleda Ekram. I would be be happy if she were alive to see her effort being recognized and rewarded. We should keep an eye on other people who are continuously putting sincere effort for the development of BUET and should try to recognize and acknowledge their contribution while they are alive , in service or retired.
