PETITION TO THE HUSAINI ISLAMIC CENTRE, PETERBOROUGH IN RELATION TO DHAKIRA FOR MUHARRAM 1438 (2016)
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim.
We, the undersigned would like to express our concern and disappointment over the Husaini Islamic Centre, Peterborough's cancellation of Dhakira Tahirabai Kassamali for this coming Muharram, 1438/2016.
We strongly feel that as Dhakira Taherabai has lived in the West for many years and knows the specific issues faced by Muslims in the West, she will be much better placed to address the challenges we face.
Dhakira Taherabai would have benefitted the entire community with her knowledge. She is able to engage with the youth, reverts and other English speakers of the community who are often disregarded in ladies Muharram majaalis. At the same time she would benefit the ladies and seniors through her lectures and seminars.
We ask that the Jamaat contacts Dhakira Taherabai to reinstate her booking, so that the community can benefit from her knowledge and experience this Muharram.
We would like the Jamaat to kindly consider and respond to our petition without delay.

Really sad news. Tahirabai is honestly so relatable and makes the majlis easy to follow for the younger generation. hope they reconsider this decision ASAP.
I completely agree with the comments. If there is no valid reason, why are we youths being disadvantaged when we could really benefit?
I feel it very unjust and insulting if there is no valid reason to cancel. Furthermore, if a male reciter can visit us for a short period of time, why wouldn't the same courtesy be extended to the female counterpart? Surely we shouldn't encourage any kind of discrimination! May Allah swt guide us to do right. Aameen
Anyone who can reach our youths and teenagers of today should be made to feel welcome in our jamaat. It would have been useful to know of the reasons for the withdrawal of the invitation to the Dhakira.
Salam please could we have Tahara Aunty reciting majlis has she recites beautifully and I have learnt a lot from her majlis in the past .She's also a zakeria and has full right to recite majlis! Thank you

Our jamaat is now mashallah blessed with diverse languages and a speaker with Gujerati and English would be ideal. It is a really challenging requirement to ask someone to come for the full 40 days, so perhaps we need to start thinking and planning a bit differently. May Allah swt grant us the tawfiq to work together for the betterment of our Tableegh. Ameen.
