Subject: Establishing a Democratic Alumni Association for Dept. of Microbiology, DU
Dear Sir,
We, the concerned alumni of your prestigious department, feel compelled to bring this matter to your notice.
Currently, two alumni associations are unilaterally claiming themselves to be the true representatives of the alumni of the Department of Microbiology, University of Dhaka. Over the past decades, we have witnessed many debates among the supporters of these two organizations, resulting in a fractured alumni divided along these lines. It is beyond doubt that both of these organizations have failed to capture the main spirit of an alumni association, which is to serve as a unifying platform for the alumni. The need for a single alumni association with maximum participation of the alumni is now being felt stronger than ever.
An alumni organization must be founded upon democratic ideals, open dialogues and transparency. Such an alumni association should be able to accommodate and represent all the alumni at home and abroad. The support and a firm stand of our beloved alma mater is necessary in forming a single alumni association.
We, the undersigned, therefore request you to stand firmly towards the formation of an alumni association following democratic principles and harmony by calling for a general meeting involving all the alumni across the spectrum. It's high time that the department and the general alumni take up an active role to put an end to this debacle for good. We believe that unnecessary complications have persisted for far too long. We urge you to take the necessary steps toward unifying all the alumni under a democratic and effective alumni association in an inclusive nature.

The department leadership is still hiding behind silence while two self-serving factions continue to tear our community apart. We are demanding a democratic process that includes everyone instead of this pathetic internal power play that benefits nobody.

H-19. I strongly believe that democratic practice is inevitable to run the alumni association for welfares.
I wholeheartedly support creating a unified alumni association for Microbiology Department, DU. This has been long overdue. Now is the time to get it done.
I standby the petition and strongly support the formation of a unified alumni association.
I wish for the a single unified alumni association where all the alumni of the department will automatically become a member and have the full voting rights to elect the leadership and any key changes.
