The college administration has formally approved the request to name the baseball field in honor of Coach Eric Brown. This achievement reflects the profound respect held for his decades of dedication to his students. We have successfully secured a lasting legacy for a coach who transformed many lives.

Final supporters
During coach Eric Brown's 30 years of service to the Suffolk County Community College baseball program, he has coached and mentored over 1,000 student athletes. His selfless devotion to helping each of them to achieve a degree at Suffolk County Community college, advance to a 4yr college, and learn how to work as part of a team should be recognized.
He has on many occasions sent 80+ emails per semester for each player to 4yr college coaches in efforts to help them have an opportunity to attend a 4yr college. This is in addition to thousands of phone calls, any time of day or week, and more efforts to help his students, every year.
He was rightfully honored and elected into the JUCO Baseball hall of fame as head coach of Suffolk County Community College, has led his teams to the JUCO College World Series on several occasions, and maintained Suffolk County Community College Baseball as a perennial playoff team.
Coach Brown doesn't fully measure success as success on the field, he takes greater pride in seeing his students achieve academic success, develop true sportsmanship, and mature into adults.
For his 30yrs of tireless and selfless dedication to his students, we hereby petition Suffolk County Community College Selden NY to name the baseball field at Suffolk County Community College Selden NY campus as "Coach Eric Brown Field".
Stony Brook University, another nearby SUNY school, named it's baseball field "Joe Nathan Field". So there is precedent allowing SCCC to name the field.
Funds will later be raised independently to obtain a plaque to be mounted at an appropriate location at the field, along with a dedication ceremony.

I had the distinct pleasure of being a competitor of Suffolk CC during my twelve years as head coach at Dutchess CC. 1994-2005. Eric Brown represents the consumate model of a head coac and mentor of student athletes. He is deserving of the honor. It gives me great pride to call him a friend.
Coach brown is the greatest coach I have ever had the pleasure of playing for. Honest, straight forward, and treats you with respect. This field meant more then just another field it was a home to every player that had the opportunity to wear the Suffolk uniform. No one is more deserving of this then Coach Brown.
He was the driving force to get my son a great college Ed by the letters and phone calls the fact is my son never went to SCC just played summer ball with him Great person and it would honor him and his program thanks
When I played at Stony Brook from 89-93, we played Coach Browns team a few times. I still remember him giving me advice as an opponent. That shows class and character. Love Coach Brown
Coach Brown was my coach for 2 very formative and tough years. He cared for all of us and taught us much more about respect and "life" than most any other coach I had. Coach Brown deserves the honor of the field being named after him after his commitment to Suffolk's student athletes over his long career.

Although i only played under coach brown for 1 fall season, he was one of my favorite coaches. He would push you to be better and he showed he cared about his players not only on the field but in the classroom as well
