We are concerned with the safety of all students in and around Braamfontein. We demand that the SAPS Patrol student villages from 6PM to 6AM everyday. We refuse to live in fear!
im hearing from so many of you about the scary stuff happening in braamfontein lately and its honestly getting exhausting to deal with. im still working on getting a meeting with the local station commanders so they finally take our safety concerns seriously.

im honestly so blown away by how many of you stepped up to keep our streets safe. the momentum we have right now is incredible and it proves that people really are tired of living like this.

The abduction issue has really scared us we are even afraid to leave the rooms at res to go buy bread. Especially if u stay in a single room you sometimes wonder how long wll it take people to realise that you are have been abducted incase it happens to you.

We need police patrols in Braam( especially by the crime " hot spot areas " and closer to the universities and colleges. Students are being robbed, abducted and raped because perpetrators see them an easy target because students are always travelling to and from campus late after classes, tests etc. Please increase security on the Mandela Bridge as well. Thank You.

I feel like any areas with student accommodation should be patrolled too. I was almost a victim to this in the Parktown area (around wits education campus). The girls from the residences around here are scared too.

We are not safe as students. This is too much for our fellow sisters who need to lock themselves inside their rooms because of the intimidation that get from stupid men. We need serious government intervention to restore the safety of students and most importantly WOMEN
