The purpose of this petition is to request that the elected commissioners of Mountain Lakes form a committee to oversee the Beach-Dam-Spillway project.
This project will have an enormous impact on the community as a whole. Therefore, there should be substantial input from the community to ensure that we are compliant with the state mandates while maintaining as much of the beach, playground and parking areas as possible.
The current plan to bring the beach area up to state specifications involves the loss of a significant portion of the beach area, the removal of the playground equipment and a loss of an unknown amount of parking area.
We suggest that the committee be made up of individuals from all areas of Mountain Lakes and include members from each of the current committees including the Water, Recreation, Zoning, Planning and Budget committees.
This project is too important to the community to allow just a few to be making the decisions that will impact the future of Mountain Lakes.

Used to go here all the time as a kid. Such a shame what its become. Fix the beach!!
We need this place. stop making it so hard for people to have a nice day out.
Totally ridiculous that they want to close it. Just clean it up and keep it running!!
Cant believe this is even a discussion. its the best spot in town for the kids.
My family loves this place. Keep it open for us to enjoy in the summer.
