I believe that Morgan County, W. Va. has gone too long without a retail store where we can buy a variety of new clothing and good shoes. We don\'t have enough business in Morgan County to support our workforce. And we have to travel too far to do most of our shopping. Let\'s get a Kmart, Wal-Mart, Target, or similar retail store in Morgan County! We\'d have a place to shop for Christmas or back to school without traveling 35 miles or more. Plus, for some of us, there would be another place to work. Many people have told me they want it. Now\'s your chance to sign our petition. Tricia Strader 2006 County Commission Candidate

To sign one about Tax Relief, go to www.ipetitions.com/petitions/MorganTaxRelief Governor Manchin has proposed Bill 239 Tax Income Base Deferrment. It sounds good at first. Seniors with income $25,000 or less may have their property taxes frozen at current rate. But those taxes would accumulate from the time it was frozen. If they sell the property, or pass away and someone inherits, the back taxes that were deferred must be paid before clear title is issued. Or, it would be sold out from under you. It is a lien. We are against the freeze and having to pay back taxes because the only tax relief is at current rate, not a lowering to previous rates, and because of having to pay it back. As it is, most of the E. Panhandle carries the rest of the state in tax base. To sign one for Governor Manchin to tell him to change Bill 239 by lowering taxes first and NOT to charging Back Taxes to seniors who sell or to those who inherit, log onto: www.ipetitions.com/petitions/ChangeManchinBill239
