The Ultradrive six-speed transmission(62TE) spans throughout various Chrysler Corporation LLC products. Although the transmission has had three updates, none have fixed the wide-spread issues. The transmission(62TE) has been plagued with customer complaints and Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, RAM have done nothing to address any of the major issues. The transmission downshifts very hard and releases clunking noises. The clunking sounds as if the transmission(62TE) will drop out the bottom of the vehicle. Apart from the horrendous operating quality of the transmission(62TE), there are VARIOUS safety flaws with the units. While stopping, the vehicle leaps forward, which could cause front-end collisions. The vehicle does not downshift appropriately while attempting to merge, which could cause serious injury. Sadly, the vehicle is at its worst while city driving. The transmission(62TE) clunks throughout shifts, and when coming to an abrupt stop, it lunges forward. The vehicle cannot find a proper gear throughout the speeds of 25 - 40, causing a very unpleasant ride. Everyone who has signed this petition is requesting that Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, RAM fix this issue immediately before a major incident occurs and people get hurt.
Models Affected:
2007–2008 Chrysler Pacifica 2007–2010 Chrysler Sebring 2011–2014 Chrysler 200 2008–2014 Dodge Avenger 2008–present Chrysler Town and Country 2008–present Chrysler Grand Voyager 2008–present Dodge Grand Caravan 2009–2012 Volkswagen Routan 2009–present Dodge Journey 2013–present Ram ProMaster
I am truly overwhelmed by how many of you have shared your own stories about this transmission. It turns out I am not the only one feeling unsafe behind the wheel of these vehicles. Your persistence is the only reason people are starting to pay attention to this.

2015 T&C - 19,000 miles - rear brakes disassembled, tore up the rotors, needing a full rear brake job. 3 weeks later, this POS tranny fell apart. Dealer has them in stock. Replaces 6 - 7 per week. After 2 weeks, they are on their 3rd replacement, they keep falling apart on them!

First tranny just completely quit with no warning. Second has been in car about 8 months and now throws a P1745 code. Replaced the solenoid pack and did full service, now back in limp mode after 2 weeks of driving. 2008 Grand Caravan SXT

been doing transmissions for forty years and most have not given me problems. 62te has no updates from sonnax or transgo to fix any of the issues with this trans. Chrysler needs to do something, hard to keep customers happy when you can't fix design flaws.

Purchased my new 2014 Dodge Avenger's 62TE Transmission died and was replaced with less then 23K miles on it on 8/5/17. The replacement 62TE is already shifting hard and making buzzing sounds with only 300 miles on it. I have lost confidence in safely driving my new car now.

I have this transmission in a 2011 VW Routan (a Chrysler town and country). At 43,000 miles and ONE MONTH PAST the VW 5yr, 60,000 mile warranty) code for selinoid failure presents. Noises and hard shifting begins. Waiting for things to get worse.

2012 Journey with erratic shifting. Sometines when wanting to pass slower car it will not down shift thus I will abort the pass. It jerks sometimes right before it shifts. Took it to the dealer and they say they don't find anything. I'm sure they are instructed to keep quiet on these issues..
