Backround

Millikin school and playground have been vacant since 2006. There was a public auction of Millikin in 2007. There were four interested parties with a private school being the highest bidder. The Board of Education rejected all the bids in hope of receiving a higher offer at a later time. Since 2007, the school building has been vandalized on a number of occasions. As well, the building has depreciated as it has been vacant. The former playground is empty of children and equipment. All that remains is an eyesore. It is time to revitalize Millikin school, the playground and the surrounding community. Quick action is needed.

Petition

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our elected members of the Cleveland Heights – University Heights Board of Education to act now to sell or lease the Millikin property located at 1700 Crest Road in Cleveland Heights, Ohio to an educational institution as soon as possible to eliminate the eyesore and establish a use for the property that will stabilize and enhance our community.

I keep staring at the screen because it finally feels like people are actually looking at this mess on Crest Road and realizing it does not have to be this way. Honestly it is surreal to see this much energy behind saving a place that has been just a sad empty box for so long.

Its a shame seeing such a nice building go to waste like this. Board needs to stop sitting on their hands.

We need a school or something useful there. The neighborhood deserves better than a broken down building filled with graffiti.

My kids used to play there. Now I dont even like walking past it. Fix it up before it falls down completely.

This place has been a total mess for years. It looks terrible and brings down our property values. Just sell the thing already.
