We request MidCoast Council allow the 'Grace Cottage' sign that is attached to the street pole on the corner of Waterman Close and Burdett Street in Tinonee.
The sign was attached to the pole in late November 2017 and gifted to Waterman Close resident, Ainslee Dennis. It is cherished and reflects the title of her home, which is named for her daughter, Grace.
The home is not a commercial premises.
Waterman Close is hidden in the back streets of Tinonee, has few residents and the sign does not create a traffic hazard, is not a catalyst for confusion for motorists and does not detract from the amenity of the area.
We understand MidCoast Council has received a complaint about the sign and as a consequence, Miss Dennis has been advised to remove it from the pole.
Our many voices challenge the complaint of the one, and should form part of the decision-making process when it comes to a review of the decision in relation to the allowance of the sign.
We request MidCoast Council allow the 'Grace Cottage' street sign to remain.

Council staff have reviewed our request but maintain that their policy on street furniture is rigid. We need to turn up the pressure by emailing local councilors directly to demand they use their discretion for this community sign. As the Person who gifted the sign, I know how much it is cherished by the resipient. Also I have received positive comments from others regarding this sign
I live up & accross the road from this sign and can see no reason for this not to be allowed, with council permission
Aazing how they inforce some sign laws but not others. So why are the business signs on council land in Prufleet okay but this isn't? When working for a real estate I got fined $300 by this council for putting a For Sale sign on a nature strip as advised by my boss! In a back lane 5km out of town ... Good luck
I have often walked the streets of Tinonee with my dogs, And have seen this sign many times, it's not obstruction to any one, I feel it's disappointing that one would complain about it, Please allow these lovely people to have their sign restored to it's place.

As a 4th generation local I love our quaint towns and personalised localness. Please keep the sign :)
