This petition supports a campaign by students, parents and friends of Merrylands High School in western Sydney.
They seek security guards for their school, which has been the target of gang violence.
The petition has the backing of The Daily Telegraph newspaper and website.
A poll of more than 900 people on www.dailytelegraph.com.au found 62% believed security at NSW schools was not tight enough.
The petition will be presented to relevant education authorities.
The stories coming in from students and parents about the violence at school are unacceptable. I am preparing to hand these names over to the education authorities to demand immediate security guards. Call your local representative today and tell them that student safety must be their priority.

My niece goes here and is terrified to go to school every day. Something needs to change before someone gets seriously hurt.

Schools are supposed to be safe places. This is getting ridiculous.
