Today, despite overwhelming opposition, the Government has chosen Manchester to pilot it's ID card scheme. Simply, it is refusing to accept all the arguments against liberty and the huge costs involved. Manchester has a proud tradition of "firsts" and so now is the time to continue in that proud tradition and be the first to tell the Government that we don't want the cost and we don't want to lose our freedoms.
