We have received notification from Cardiff Council that they propose to turn the entirety of Matthew Walk fields in to a ’one cut grassland area’. This means that they will allow the grass to grow into a meadow to promote conservation and biodiversity.

This also means that local families will no longer be able to play football, have outdoor picnics or social gatherings in this much needed recreational space.

This field is essential to the community in Danescourt and gives children the freedom to play ball games away from the tarmac streets and in a safe environment.

Also many dog walkers use this field to exercise their dogs. Long unkept grass will make it more difficult for owners to locate and pick up dog mess.

This petition is to ask Cardiff Council to fulfil it’s duty to maintain the field so that this integral community space can continue to be enjoyed by residents living in Danescourt and surrounding areas.
