There is a complete lack of maternity leave for upcoming families in our agency which can be unnecessarily stressful in an already stressful work environment as it can compromise the well being of mothers and their infants. Maternity leave is shown to help new mothers transition into a care-giver roll and has many short and long-term health benefits for both the mother and the infant
Its honestly ridiculous that we have to fight for this. Working on the ambulance is hard enough without having to worry about losing your job right after giving birth.

This is a must. Mothers need time to recover from pregnancy and mothers need time with their newborns as well. If not maternity leave than at least light duty.

I don’t have children, but in the five years I’ve worked here I’ve seen this issue cause hardship on countless families in our agency. Happily signed!
