The Governor and the legislature finally quit stalling and secured the necessary matching funds for our highways. We forced their hands and kept our tax dollars from being handed over to other states. Stay sharp because we need to make sure they actually spend this money where they promised.

New federal dollars are now available to help improve Arkansas highways. However, Arkansas does not have enough highway revenue to match the federal dollars in order to receive them. If we can't match what's available, we lose it to other states. (The match is 20% state for 80% federal.) Sign the "Match For More" petition, asking Governor Hutchinson and the legislature to increase highway funding so we can match federal dollars to improve Arkansas highways.

The massive surge of support proves that Arkansans are done watching our federal tax dollars get handed away to other states because the legislature refuses to act. Governor Hutchinson and his cronies in the statehouse can no longer ignore the roar of people demanding we fix our crumbling roads. Keep the pressure on them until they stop making excuses and authorize the funding now.

the way i see is if the people of arkansas need to understand the importance of an added gas tax . The roads built in the 80s are in need of repair. Lots of new roads need to be built also.

In order for the state to function roads are required. In order for the state to function in a safe way those roads need to be in good repair. Roads in disrepair cause accidents and deaths and may well start to incur legal action that costs more than the fixing of the road itself.

Good roads are important for safety. I am especially concerned about some of the roads our school buses travel on a daily basis. An 80/20 split is a pretty good deal for citizens. Arkansas needs to improve as many roads as possible during this opportunity!

Our highways are one of the most important assets of our state. Good highways save us time and money everyday. Everyone benefits by good highways. The quicker and easier it is to deliver our resources, either raw or finished, the cheaper it is to the consumer.
