To whom it may concern, We the undersigned wish to inform you that Mata Sahib Kaur Sikh Academy is a very valuable resource to the entire UK Sikh population.  The academy's main focus is young Sikh children.  It provides a safe and supportive environment for the children to both learn about Sikhism as well as take part in sports and martial arts.  Majority of the seva (voluntary service) at the academy is done by the children themselves.  All this helps to channel the children's energy towards something positive and it teaches them how they can be better people and help others around them.  For example young Sikh children from the academy regularly visit a local old people's home so that they can interact with people who are much more maturer than them.  In addition the children help prepare food which the academy donates to a local homeless persons hostel via regular food runs.

The Sikh community in East London benefits from regular religious programmes as well as other activities such as exercise classes, free computer classes, lectures on healthy eating and living and free medical check ups by local doctors, dentists, opticians etc. Events are regularly held at the academy which are attended by Sikhs from all around the UK.

Last year's cold weather encouraged the academy to raise money to purchase warm clothing for the local homeless people,  As you can see the academy gives a lot to both the Sikh and non-Sikh communities. Given this we urge you to please give the academy whatever support is necessary for it to continue running and benefiting people from all backgrounds.

Thank you
