This petition seeks to re-establish the MASH graduation date to the traditional Friday evening date of the Memorial Day Holiday weekend as previously hosted since 2004.
We do not support the school board’s decision dating back to 2014 to change the MASH graduation date to Sunday, June 2nd, as reflected on the 2018-1019 district calendar for the following reasons:
- Lost employment time for graduates in order to pay for continuing education costs beyond MASH
- Other districts graduating on or before Memorial Day Weekend obtaining the local employment available before MASH graduates
- No additional minutes/days needed for seniors in regards to the State of Wisconsin or the MASH requirements to graduate
- Families unable to travel to attend from afar, as Monday is an active business day
- Several colleges host admissions dates the first week of June
- Gradebooks are often closed for the school calendar year prior to graduation and AP and combined classes are tested out by mid-May
- All active members voting a “yes” vote to the change, minus 1 member, have no students in the district
Note: If you are 18 years of age or older and agree with this petition please remember to sign the other petition. This petition is specifically for students who would like to see the change, but are not allowed to vote.
