I am opposed to the proposal presented by Dr. Randy Davis to the School Board on 2/3, and at the Elementary School Forums in February 2014 to change 3 K-5 elementary schools to a 2-tiered system: Gordon and Hughes being K-2, and Walters being 3-5 grades. The proposal does not provide sufficient evidence for need to change as all of the benfits given in the proposal can be achieved in the current K-5 system. There will not be any benefit to implementing this for the 2014-15 school year. I do not endorse spending undefined amounts of tax-payer dollars to change a system that is currently working well. I would like to see a better evaluation of the current K-5 structure and implementation of programs to further improve the level of education across the district utilizing this current structure.
