This could lead to the demise of local shops by pulling shoppers away from the centre of Marple, even more traffic congestion and change the community forever.
Concerned residents and businesses have formed a local action group to raise awareness of the potential sale and make it clear to any proposed supermarket that they will face strong opposition to a store opening on that site.

The feedback from local business owners has been clear because they know a supermarket here will devastate our town centre shops. Go to the council website today and email your representative to explain why this location is wrong for our community. Post your thoughts on Facebook and tag your local councillors so they cannot ignore us.

The traffic on Hibbert Lane is already a nightmare. Putting a supermarket there is just asking for a major accident.
THEY DONT CARE ABOUT MARPLE. ONLY PROFIT. STOP THIS NOW.
Marple doesnt need another supermarket. It will kill the high street dead. Keep the big companies out of our town!
We need to protect our local businesses. Once the supermarkets take over the high street is gone for good.
Ridiculous idea. We have plenty of shops already in the centre. Leave our community alone.

so sad to see the college site go like this. it should be for the community not some giant store that we dont need.
