Unfortunately, after he lost, he "misplaced" one of the vital parts of the outfit on "accident". Stephen thought he could just shrug off his debt and pretend that missing accessory was a total accident. The momentum behind this movement proves he cannot hide from his obligations anymore.

Stephen believes that this offense has lost its pertinence, but I cannot disagree more. This argument of "just getting over it" is disgusting and leads to major rifts in our society.
