The board actually voted to move forward with the security updates and I honestly cannot believe it finally happened after all this back and forth. It feels surreal to see the metal detectors and officers becoming a real plan for the schools instead of just a dream we were all …
This petition will be presented to the Moniteau School Board on Monday, March 26th at the regular monthly meeting. We are seeking the School Board to approve the hiring of qualified armed police officers to monitor Dassa McKinney Elementary and Moniteau High School during school hours and after school activities and the installation of metal detectors at both locations.
I have been reading through the comments all morning and my brain is honestly just looping on how many parents have reached out with the exact same fears. It is strange how we all just accept these risks now even though sitting here and thinking about it makes my chest feel tight and honestly I just cannot stop pacing around the kitchen.

I completely agree with the concept of armed guards. the school should treat every child in their care as their own. that means, we do what ever it takes to keep ALL of the children safe! I am astounded that we have not done this already! It is a no brainer!!!

We as parents have the responsibility of ensuring that our children attend school. The school has the responsibility of ensuring their safety.
