This petition serves as an appeal to the administration of the Norman Manley Law School to reconsider their decision to have face-to-face tutorials for year 1 students in the upcoming semester. Currently, students from across the Caribbean region find it difficult or even impossible to travel due to the health risks, financial strain and border closures caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic. If you are an incoming student to the Law School and find yourself unable to travel to Jamaica for the upcoming semester you are encouraged to stand with us and make your voice heard. Sign this petition if you support online lectures, tutorials and seminars for the first semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.
There needs to be a uniform decision taken across the three law schools. Hugh Wooding has done the appropriate and safe thing by keeping all sessions virtual for the duration of the first semester. It’s important to safeguard everyone’s well-being during these trying and uncertain times, especially where travel is both risky and not guaranteed.
