During morning and evening rush hour traffic, Plumbers Row becomes very busy as a 'ratrun' between Whitechapel Road and Commercial Road. Due to cars parked on either side of Plumbers Row, the road is not wide enough to accommodate two-way traffic causing severe traffic jams for commuters, as well as for ambulances and emergency vehicles attempting to access The Royal London Hospital. As Plumbers Row is also a residential area, I am one of many locals disrupted by several hours of noise day and night from horns honking, shouted verbal abuse and often people physically assaulting one another due to frustration caused by the traffic jams.
On reaching 1000 signatures, this petition will be sent to Tower Hamlets council to ask them to make Plumbers Row a one-way street.
