Traffic through the Plympton Ward is unacceptably high with only a few streets carrying the bulk of the vehicle traffic.  

We the undersigned wish for Town of East Fremantle decisionmakers to remove the one-way northly traffic only blocks either side of the Tradewinds Hotel off Canning Hwy (Sewell and Hubble Streets) in order to better balance vehicle traffic across all north-south running Plympton Streets.  

Currently, King St, Glyde St and East Street are taking the bulk of the traffic and it's increasingly unsafe for residents who regularly experience:

• Their vehicle side mirrors swiped when parked on the street, 
• Blind spots and cannot reverse their cars out of their driveways due to heavy traffic flows
• Can no longer have children out the front of their homes for fear of an accident.  

There have been many 'near-misses' witnessed and personally experienced by residents involving pedestrians, bicycles and pets.

The Sewell and Hubble Streets one-way road block was initiated in the 1980s when the Tradewinds Hotel was redeveloped ahead of the America's Cup and was a popular bar for tourists and locals.  There is no longer any need for these streets to be one-way, and opening them up would greatly benefit the amenity of residents across the whole of the Plympton ward.

The Town of East Fremantle has committed to reviewing traffic conditions across Plympton once the Fremantle Traffic Bridge reopens later this year and these signatures demonstrate support for one important measure to improve safety and resident amenity.
