Imagine living in a world where people can rape and traumatize children, teenagers, to adults even & get away with it & nothing will change. these people will grow up and live their life if they even survive with these haunting memories, and no justice. Well, in New brunswick, that's how it is, and I'm prepared to change that.
Less than 4 out of 20 cases are treated by authority even if they do end up reporting the sexual assault. To add onto that, if they end up going to court they most likely get retraumatized by the process because they are shamed and blamed on the stand, which is disgusting. Only 3% of rapists spend even a day in jail while 32,000 women a year are pregnant with their rapists babies because they are too ashamed to abort and some countries have laws against abortion even. Want me to go on even further? 1 in 10 men are sexually assaulted by their partners and they are barely reported because they don't know if they should even consider it sexual assault. 1 in 4 women are victims of sexual harassment at the age of twelve and close to 90% by the age of 19. The worst thing is that victims go into extreme ptsd and depression, including isolating themselves from everyone. Last but not least, 48% of men believe it doesn't count as sexual assault if the women had even a drop of alcohol.
These statistics prove that we have failed at educating the world properly about this subject. Here in New brunswick, these reports of sexual violence go through even less than these statistics. Please, sign your name to make the new brunswick police take this way more seriously.

Seeing all these people finally acknowledging how broken the system here actually is feels like a huge weight just shifted because honestly I was terrified nobody would care at all. It is wild to realize how many of us have been sitting in this hurt alone when we could have been pushing for real systemic changes together this whole time.

I had almost been raped by my own father and for everyone who has went through this speak up you have a voice use it to you're advantage as a 15 year old boy I like many others thought I couldn't get help but help is just an arms length away from being free of you're abuser!

This is so true. The police here just brushed me off when I tried to explain what happened and it makes me sick knowing others deal with the same thing.

People need to sign this. something happened, That made me feel discussed in myself. I stopped wearing jeans and stopped showing skin just so that wouldn’t happen again. I was afraid to even go grocery shopping.
