The proposed project of NCDOT to widen Kanuga Road is a bad idea for a myriad of reasons. The project will ultimately lead to various types of hardships and unpleasant outcomes for the citizens who own properties, reside, travel, or work along Kanuga Road. The people of Hendersonville and Henderson County should make it known to the NCDOT that this action is unacceptable. The momentum is undeniable now. NCDOT cannot ignore this many people who want to save our road.

We travel both Crabcreek and Kanuga Road daily. The problem is not the Road but rather the drivers that choose to navigate it at excessive speeds, recklessly, under the influence or combination thereof. The widening would ruin the scenic character of the roadway. The money would be better spent elsewhere were it could truly have positive impact... not on Kanuga.
Widening will NOT make this road safer. The 2 fatal accidents that occurred were past the area that is proposed to be widened and were NOT caused by the 'narrow' road.
Widening the roads will not solve problems with traffic. I believe keeping lines painted consistently and other things can be done to help. Please consider other options
widening would increase congestion and cause serious loss of income or business to property owners
I am a resident of Hendersonville. We own a home near Kanuga Road. I am 100% against the plan to widen Kanugh Road.

went through a similar project in Ct. years ago - the road was widened , numerous stone walls [some 200 years old] and old growth trees were removed for the sake of progress. we ended up with a sterile highway with no character - once finished people regretted their decision as it opened the door for commercial expansion. i recently went back for a visit and in 10 years the once country road is now a mess with commercial and housing developments. it might not happen right away but Kanuga will be ruined eventually
