in first gear releasing the clutch the bike makes noise and shutters tried adjusting clutch didn't work

Just fixed a friends 2006 M109R. Clutch basket was loose, the supposedly non serviceable nut that holds the gear to the splines on the basket was loose. I made a tool to tighten it. Cleaned the threads on the adapter and nut, and used JB Weld on the threads to insure that it would not come loose again. Stupid design!

Started about 6 months ago. Very random and does not make a difference if it's hot or cold. 2008 with about 8000 miles

not even 10 thousand miles in and I have a massive clutch shudder issue. Also, it has a tendency to drop out of second and into neutral during acceleration. Both are massive problems!

Addressed this problem several times to dealer on my 07 m109r

2006 m109r has 6500 miles and slipping in all gears when rpm goes past 3k and always pops out of 2nd gear and into nuetral. Major problem and very annoying. Bike was always garaged and adult riden. Never abused and hence the problems still arised.

2008 M109R, replaced clutch and place a shift kit from slipping gears. Now 10000 miles and doing it again 2nd gear slips out at 3000rpm and drops to neutral.

2009 seems to only shudder when cold. When warmed up no issues.

2008 with 9000 miles. Has been doing it since about 6500 miles. Chutch shudders mostly when cold but starting to do it even after its warm.

Caught me off guard the first time it did it, almost dropped the bike due to the shudder

SUZUKI NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. MY 2008 M109 has the same issue since I bought is with 2900miles. Not 11000 miles. Its been doing it more often.

M109r slips in 2nd gear, extremely frustrating when all you want to do is ride. It's enough hazards on the road already that last thing you should have to worry about is the mechanics of your bike. To many loyal M109r owners with the same issue for Suzuki just to ignore. Recall!

My 2006 M109r has the common clutch shudder and has always done it. Still only has 28000 miles. Its very irritating and embarrasing at times. Ive got this very cool bike that looks like a piece of junk when I take off on front of people. I need Suzuki to fix this problem.Tim

The crankcase housing was drilled out by the agent under warranty for better lubrication, but the shudder/clutch lock-up still comes back intermittently. This can be really dangerous if the front wheel is not pointing straight forward when starting off. (most commonly happens when the engine is cold and occasionally when hot). I sometimes get a grinding noise when starting off too.

I have a 2011 M109 and it does that too! I don't dog my bike grind from 1st to 2nd and 4th to 5th

I also have the clutch shutter (randomly) and it is a Safety issue that Suzuki needs to fix to keep they're loyal customers remaining loyal. There are many other manufacturers competing for our business so it's not a problem to switch if necessary....

I bought a 2015 m109r this summer it has less than 300 miles and my clutch went. The shop or suzuki wont fix. Said i broke it. This is my 3rd bike and ive never broken a clutch. Need help

I also have the clutch shudder issues, seems worse when first starting out and gets better as ride gets longer and things warm up. Has Antonella found a cure. My bike shop said they drill holes in the clutch plates to aid lubrication, has anyone tried this?

dont get me wrong, I love my bike. However, this matter should have been recalled in order to fix this issue. Happens especially when cold and just taking off in first is no fun at all.

I just bought a 07 Suzuki M109 from an individual notice clutch shudder when it's cold don't really feel it after I ride it for a while but I have once or twice

Bought my 2013 m109 with 700miles. And when it hit around 1500 miles clutch went out. Didn't know about this issue if I did I would have never gOt one

I have had this shuddering from day one , I bought the bike in 2010 with 9 km on it and now with 26000km on it it is getting more frequent , I hear there is a fix for it but it is not by Suzuki motors Canada as they will not respect the guarantees anyway

I began having the shudder problem on my 109 at about 4K miles and am at 18K and still have the problem.

Been dealing with this $#!+ for years! Dealership can't even tell me how much it will cost to fix until they take it apart. At least $900 is the starting point. Not what I've come to expect from Suzuki. Probably won't buy another if this is the quality I can expect.

I have a c109r and have the same problem.

Mine just broke down today. Dealer had no idea as it was the first case in Hong Kong. It resulted in damaging the entire system. Now need to wait for 2 to 3 weeks for parts

I'm so glad to have found this petition for the 2nd gear slipping issue I really hope and pray that Suzuki owns up to there bad mechanics on these bikes because they know what the did wrong that's why they've since then corrected the problem on the 2011 models and didn't even put out a 2010 because of it.

Just purchased my M109R used . Seller said nothing about the issue. I did not experience the issue on my test ride. The very next ride after purchase I noticed I am now the not so proud owner of a M109R with the famous "Clutch Shudder" Its definitely a safety related hazard that under the right conditions... Sandy or wet surface could result in a accident , injury or death! Its a real problem that cant be ignored!

Agree with Roy Collins in New Zealand, I bought a 2007 and didn't notice the clutch shudder during my test ride, probably because I was being pretty careful on my starts. I don't even try any quick starts anymore because of the shudder, it takes a lot of fun out of the ride!

My M1800R is a 2007 model, low mileage and suffers occasional clutch judder and rear wheel spin. Often when cold or shortly after starting when warm, also seems exacerbated by holding the clutch in for longer periods at lights for example.

Bought a 2007 m109r with 7300 miles in march of 2017. Vibrations when at 3000 rpm until 4500 rpm. I thought it what the character of the bike like a power surge but it is damaging to the bikes internals. Vibrations cause wear. Also bike bucks usually on cold start. It's happened randomly during a ride when going from a stop. Also the shifter peg rattles like crazy when over 4K rpm shifting into second and wants to kick you out of making the shift. I suppose you can shift sooner and warm up the bike good before riding but why is this bike so symptomatic and self destructive?

Have an 07 M109 w/ a little over 18K, I bought new. Clutch shudder started about 2.5 years after purchase but pretty infrequently. Have waited to see if Suzuki would do a recall but 4.5 years later, still nothing from suzuki. Would cost about $450-$475 for the reported wave washer and seat plate fix. Clutch shudder happens almost all the time now but only in 1st gear. Called a local dealer and the service department tech I spoke with stated that he has never personally dealt with a clutch shudder on the M109.

If Suzuki won't stand by their product then I for one won't be buying their product I love my M109R but it's been doing it during there since I had to bike and that's ridiculous!

Let's get this s*** fixed it sucks and hopefully somebody doesn't get killed because of the problem....

2008 C109 RT Clutch shudder obvious safety risk especially during slippery conditions. With its monster motor it's dangerous not to have smooth power application, especially from standing start. Understand there's a drive plate and wave washer fix. Obvious quality control problem with wave spring steel quality or heat treating. I'm a 35 year loyal Suzuki owner with Boulevard and a great 1800 cc engine that can't be enjoyed due to clutch issues. Step Up Suzuki and back your loyal following by fixing the problem. If not many will consider brand change.

2006 M109 with 27,000 kilometers. It has the intermittent clutch shutter and a second gear shift grind. The shutter just started 1000 k ago and is increasing in frequency but the second gear grind has been there for 5000 k and getting worse. This is a design flaw that Suzuki should fix.

Shudders real bad at start up

I just bought a 2018 M109 BOSS. From the get go the clutch rattles and sounds like a valve tick at idle and shutters real bad in all gears and under all acceleration levels. I purchased the bike on the 18th of August 2018. Causes the whole bike to shake and it was test driven and given to me with this problem. Taking it back on the 21st and this problem will be resolved or every consumer advocate on the planet will hear about it. Beautiful machine and it's a shame that this problem still has not been resolved after all these years.

I had taken my bike back to the dealer and was insulted by the mechanic to hear him say that this was normal for this bike. I am and will get a response and a fix

Clutch shutter getting worse.

I have a 2007 m-109 with 106,000 miles on it. the clutch did shutter a few times. at 104,000 miles I changed the friction plates and put in 10% stronger springs and that seem it solve the issue. What you need to know is keep an eye on the motor mounts, at 42,000 miles mine had to go into the shop for a $3,000.00 fix to replace the main bearing at the drive shaft. the motor mounts need to be changed at 30,000 to 40,000 miles, and it is an all day job to do this. at 104,000 miles started hearing a noise in the clutch area. found out the springs in the clutch hub were loose, ordered a new one, $250.00 for the part. other than the few issues I've had the bike has not left me on the side of the road. I have replaced my clutch cable 3 times so for, and I always carry one with me, the clutch cable is your weak point, ride safe. your friend in Fla.

Have experienced shuddering from the beginning. Dangerous design flaw. No Recall? No problem...We will file a Mass Tort (Class Action) complaint against Suzuki Motor Co. for negligence and be sure hefty Punitive damages are added to the settlement in addition to repairs and reasonable attorney fees to cover the expense involved in this civil litigation. Do the smart thing and the right thing Suzuki. Enhance your reputation instead of trashing it. Yes I am bone cold serious.

We have more than enough signatures. Now it is time to go to the Natl. Highway Transportstiin Safety Board and file a complaint. It is easy. You will need your VIN etc. They will investigate and rule in it. If the defect has caused injury you will want to speak with an attorney first but this will not preclude you from filing. The more the merrier. Go to the NHTSB website and click on the file a complaint link.

I ride a 2008 C109R, 25000ks the clutch started to shudder last year. It shudders when I start to disengage in first gear, taking off from a stop position, cold or when hot. You never know when it is going to happen! But it happens way to often!

My late husband's M109 developed clutch shudder -- happened while he rode for about 5 seconds then would quit. Didnt stop him from riding but he intended to fix it himself as he was a good mechanic but didn't get a chance to do it before he passed away.
