You may have received an e-mail or recently read chatter on social media about sweeping proposed bylaws changes that stand to drastically change your Association.

These are controversial changes objectively, but what many members are alarmed about is the way in which they are being proposed.

#1: These changes are required to be voted on by the membership in a general membership meeting that allows for debate and input from the members.

Instead of discussing them in the live general membership meeting in August, these changes are intentionally being proposed on July 30th in a Zoom meeting that will not allow member input, and in advance of the 2025 LVR elections, which indicates or gives the appearance that the elections are being manipulated. LVR BOD is only allowing for an up or down vote on these changes.

LVR states in their July 17th communication to the members that they are holding the meeting via Zoom to allow for more participation, but they are silencing the membership input, committee input, and the input of many of the Directors of the Board. Remember these changes came directly from the Executive Team consisting of 4 members. Not the members, not a committee, and not the Directors you elected.

#2: LVR Leadership is allowing for Proxy Votes.

Allowing Proxy votes for sweeping bylaws changes is already alarming, as members at large who will not be fully exposed to the bylaws changes nor allowed discussion of any kind will be voting. Additionally this opens the possibility for manipulation of the vote with no transparency.

#3 LVR Leadership within the last 30 days has removed the 30-Day notice requirement to the members, and now only has to provide 11 day notice to the membership on changes being proposed. Historically they were provided well beyond 30 days, but now our 15,000+ members have only been given 12 full days prior to the meeting to read through the sweeping changes.

This has never been the policy or protocol of LVR.

#4: LVR Leadership is presenting these changes as what they say “enhance governance, expand the pool of leadership candidates from which the membership can choose” however many of the changes do exactly the opposite.

LVR Leadership has provided you a breakdown, but we have also compiled a comprehensive breakdown on why every proposed Amendment should be voted NO.
