Dear Apple Valley City Works,

As residents, we are having to utilize our backyards and local sidewalks/paths more than ever to get exercise for ourselves, our children, and our pets. As more and more homes are added to the neighborhoods adjacent to 157th St., traffic has continued to increase. For those of us with homes that back up directly to this street, that has been overtly clear. The stretch of 157th St. that goes from Fairfield Dr. to Pilot Knob has become a concerning stretch. With the speed limit increase from 30 to 35 for the very short stretch from Fairfield to Johnny Cake, and the 40mph zone that goes to Pilot Knob, drivers see 40, and think that means they can go 45,50, or faster. Cars going 45-50mph repeatedly disregard the 4(3)-way stop on Johnny Cake. With 160th being just to the south, and the fact that we have a city park, new townhomes coming in, and many homes and a busy walking path adjacent to the road, there's no reason for there to be a 40mph speed limit through a residential area, and this petition is kindly requesting that the speed limit be changed to 30mph.

Thank you.
