This is a petition to ask the City Council to ban the use of fireworks within Presque Isle city limits. The houses are simply too close together and the noise is too much, especially for families with young children and pets. The higher velocity fireworks are also traumatic for veterans with PTSD, not to mention the number of pets affected. Please sign this petition to tell the City Council that enough is enough, it's time to ban the use of fireworks in Presque Isle.

I really never thought this would gain this much steam but here we are and it is honestly wild to see so many people who are just as tired of the noise and the stress as I am. It makes me feel a lot better knowing that folks are actually listening to each other about how these lights and bangs are impacting our whole town even if the City Council is still kind of dragging their feet on the issue.

i would love to see the fire works banned from city limits. My dog is petrified of them and they always wake my kids up.

I would like to express my concern for fireworks in all of Presque Isle...not just within the city limits. I have horses and was pinned to the wall in the stall by a 1,200 pound animal that was terrified by fireworks going off up the road from my house. He wouldn't eat and paced in circles in his stall for three days after. This is not a problem just within city limits.

At least ban them after 8:30 P.M. It's hard to get a good nights sleep when you hear them all hours of the night.

I support this petition as a member of Presque Isle and believe that fireworks set off within city limits present a fire hazard, a noise hazard, can be detrimental to our veterans with PTSD.

Perhaps the solution to this nuisance would be a requirement that the Police or Fire Department issue permits for the use of fireworks. As with the current fire permits, those that intend to use fireworks would have to call the Police or Fire Department for permission each time they intend to use them. You could purchase a permit yearly but would need to call into these departments anytime you intend to use fireworks. This would assure that the Police or Fire personnel are aware of when and where they are being used. Under certain conditions, these departments could refuse permission for use. Several factors should be considered before issuing a permit, such as, location, time, weather and previous complaint from neighbors.

I live in town and my neighbors enjoy fireworks, which is fine. My problem is when you live so close and your firework debri makes it all over my yard, behind my house, and on my roof...who picks it up? You can bet not my inconsiderate neighbor!

I feel they should be banned from city limits. The houses are too close.
