We,the undersigned, give our signatures of support in favor of a Maui Lifespan Housing Policy. We believe that current residential building practices on Maui generally do not take ino consideration adequate accessibility features. We believe that Maui residential building practices should enable citizens of all ages, abilities and incomes to live at home safely, comfortably and independently during all the seasons of life. We believe, therefore, that requiring developers and builders to offer a list of optional accessibility features that new home buyers can select from and pay for will help new home owners live and age at home with independence. and dignity.

I started this because I wanted to see more homes built for everyone, but the way you have all connected with this idea has left me completely stunned. I am currently working on a summary of the feedback I have received to share with local planners. This is truly your momentum pushing the conversation forward.

I am truly overwhelmed by the momentum behind this push for better housing options. This shift belongs entirely to those of you who decided that our neighbors deserve to age in place with dignity.

Just put the options in so people can choose. Its their house anyway.

Living on Maui is already expensive enough. Make it so our elders can actually stay in their own homes instead of moving away. Simple fix.

My mom has to move off island because her house isnt accessible. This should have been the standard years ago.

Its wild that new homes get built without basic accessibility. Why make it harder for people to age in place? Makes no sense.

ABOUT TIME. Builders out here just want to cut corners and save a buck. Glad someone is pushing for these basic features.
