We, the undersigned citizens, believe that it is time to act to help improve housing options in Eugene. We support immediate action on the “Cottage Code Amendments” to make it easier and less expensive to build smaller housing types in Eugene—including making changes to our zoning code to promptly and fully comply with SB 1051 to allow every detached single family home owner in Eugene to build a secondary dwelling unit if they so desire, and to make “Cottage Clusters” a by-right housing development type in Eugene.

The feedback from city hall remains discouragingly vague while we keep chasing real answers on these amendments. It is exhausting to navigate the bureaucracy but I am not walking away from this fight.

The fact that the city is violating state law in just 3 neighborhoods is sad and possibly discrimination. Well-to-do homeowners lobbied to have these restrictions put in place in what looks like a "Not in my back yard" move. Very un-Eugene in my opinion
As our loved ones grow older and the cost of health care rises, building a Secondary Dwelling maybe the only way we can afford to provide care for them. Eugene City Council should do everything it can to provide residents the means to care for there family member.
I inherited a home in the Cal Young neighborhood with a large back yard. I work two jobs and still struggle to pay my mortgage. I would love to have a SDU to help me out and help someone else to live in a safe, quiet neighborhood. I hope these restrictions can be lifted soon. Thank you!
This change seems to help solve multiple housing related problems, among them: affordability, flexibility, security, & higher density while maintaining single family housing neighborhood integrity. Thanks for your consideration! Newt
We need to be able to build small homes in the city boundary so our farmlands remain intact for local security and to lower our carbon footprint
Ridiculous zoning laws have made home ownership prohibitively expensive.
I support this and other alternative housing models that provide more affordable and community-oriented housing options.

We're I able to build a small cottage in my capacious back yard I would live there and could have a family live in my larger house. I'm drowning in a home I can't afford to live in because I can't find an even remotely decent rental.
