TOO MANY DRIVERS HAVE GOT AWAY WITH VERY LIGHT SENTENCES AFTER BEING CONVICTED OF CAUSING DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY, WHILST DRIVING DANGEROUSLY, EVEN WHILE DISQUALIFIED, UNINSURED OR UNLICENSED.
MAGISTRATES/CROWN COURTS PASS VERY LENIENT SENTENCES ON THESE DRIVERS, FOR FEAR OF CONTRAVENING THEIR 'HUMAN RIGHTS'; RATHER THAN PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
WE NEED TOUGHER SENTENCES, NOT IMPRISONMENT, (WHICH WE THE TAXPAYERS MUST PAY FOR) BECAUSE THEY SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE CONSEQUENCES, AND THEIR CONSCIENCES WHILST STILL LIVING IN OUR SOCIETY NOT A PRISONS; SO A LIFE BAN ON DRIVERS WOULD SEEM TO BE THE ONLY STEP FORWARD, AND WOULD SERVE AS A DETERRENT FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.
