Final supporters
Although studies have shown lice is not frequently transmitted in school, I am concerned the study is flawed due to it including ALL school age children. Our littles are still loving eachother and playing closely (which is wonderful, but risks transmitting lice).
I would like the policy to revert back to notices being sent out when a child has active lice. This will not prevent lice being spread but it can give parents a chance to catch it early and take precautionary measures. Daily checks when there is a lice outbreak can help parents catch it and get rid of it early. Parents will also be able to secure their child's hair up and spray with product to help reduce their risk.
Lice is time consuming and a finacial burden for many parents. Notification can help parents stay on top of it and help shorten the lice's stay in our schools.
I'm attending a school committee meeting tomorrow and want to show a support for this change.
Please only sign if you have a child currently in QPS, as I want it to be relevant. Thank you.

Preparing for the upcoming school committee meeting has reminded me how much parents value the autonomy to manage their own household health. I plan to bring these names to the table to demonstrate that transparency remains a priority for our community.

Reaching this level of support confirms that many of us share the same practical concerns about managing health in our classrooms. I look forward to presenting this unified perspective to the school committee tomorrow afternoon.

I wanted to add that many kids share lockers and in Winter with bulkycoats ,sweaters & hats stored together could be a source of transmission as well.
I would like to be informed if there is a lice outbreak in my child’s classroom to take appropriate caution and measures.
I truly believe schools should notify parents. As a household with 4 kids it would be good to know that Id need to check everyone.
My daughter came home with lice and treated the whole family house and cars. If parents arnt aware of a classmate having lice anonymously then parents won’t check. I check a lot because I’m a barber but people who arnt might not know what to look for. Lice is a hard thing to get rid of and if you don’t treat it right it will spread through the school and households of the children. Please I can’t keep looking through my daughters thick hair every night in fear she’s going to bring it back home.
So we do not want to know WHO has lice as it is a privacy issue, we just want to know when it is active in the school. We, as parents, assume there will be cold and flu germs but we can take precautions during active lice times.
